Jewish Voices

Who we are

Jewish Voices of Inner Sydney formed in 2024 as a group of local Jewish people who did not feel represented by legacy Jewish organisations. Our members differ in age, background and religious observance. Many of us are the children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors and refugees who found shelter here, on unceded Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land.

Our members are signatories to the Jewish Council of Australia's core principles.

Jewish Voices is a member of BDS Alliance Australia.

More about us

What we do

We speak to parliaments, councils and inquiries, and we show up.

Since early 2025 we have met local, state and federal representatives, given evidence to the NSW Parliament, and written to the Prime Minister, the Governor-General, councils, universities and the Human Rights Commissioner. We have joined national coalitions of Jewish organisations, marched as part of the Jewish bloc at Palestine solidarity rallies, and lodged six evidence-based submissions to the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion.

What we stand for

  • Human Rights and Equality We support human rights and equality for all people.
  • First Nations justice We support First Nations calls for truth-telling, justice and treaty.
  • Democratic freedoms protect everyone The right to speak, protest and disagree is a protection for minorities, not a threat to them.
  • Antisemitism is racism It should be named accurately and fought alongside every other form of racism, not treated separately.
  • Criticism of Israel is not hatred of Jews Treating the two as the same misleads the public, silences Palestinians and makes Jewish Australians less safe.
  • Justice for Palestinians We call on the Australian Government to end its political support of, and trade with, Israel. We support peace and justice for all people from the river to the sea.
